This week's health events include a Fix Your Form Running Clinic and a 10K for charity.
Staying fit has never been more fun for St. Louisans. Health events all around the city will have you rolling, bending, swinging, and munching your way to a healthier lifestyle. This week’s selection ranges from getting your rooftop yoga on to getting felt up at the grocery store.
June 6 - Aerial Fitness Drop-in Class
Talk about a fun way to get fit! Aerial is the new trend in fitness that combines weight-bearing exercises with aerial suspension to create the ultimate full-body workout. Drop-in classes are offered for just $20 from 6 to 7p.m. every Monday night at Upper Limits Downtown.
June 7 & 8 - Yoga and Tacos
This Taco Tuesday, stop by for a few tacos and a generous serving of yoga from Yoga Buzz. Tickets are $30 and will get you two tacos, one margarita, and one hour of all-levels yoga. This Girls on the Run fundraising event starts at 6 pm on June 7 at Barnett on Washington.
Update: The June 7 event has sold out, but there's still room for June 8.
June 8 - FOOD ROOF Sunset Yoga
Yoga, on a roof, in a garden, at sunset. Count me in! Urban Harvest’s FOOD ROOF Farm project grows organic, healthy food for underserved communities in St. Louis. This SunSET Yoga event offers a unique chance to enjoy the city from above and learn more about FOOD ROOF Farm with a guided tour of the rooftop farm at the end of the class. Tickets are $20, and the event will be held from 7 to 9 pm on June 8 at FOOD ROOF Farm.
June 9 - Thirsty Thursday Social Ride
This free, five-mile bike ride through Tower Grove Park allows riders of all experience levels to enjoy time with friends while getting in a daily dose of calorie-burning cardio. The group will meet around 6 pm on June 9 at Civil Life Brewery. Bring your bike and helmet for a casual ride through the park.
June 9 - Chip in for Children
Golf for a cause, tournament style. This event, hosted by Southside Early Childhood Center, includes a lunch, open bar, and a chance to win some awesome prizes including Cardinals or Blues season tickets, a new car, and more. Registration opens at 11 am June 9 at Forest Park’s Norman Probstein’s Community Golf Course.
June 10 - Siteman Cancer Center Mammography Van
It’s not as creepy as you would think. The Mammography Van, from Siteman Cancer Center, is a screening facility-on-wheels that travels around St. Louis to make the cancer-screening process easier and more convenient. This week the van will be making a stop from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 10 at the Arsenal Schnucks. You can plan an appointment around your grocery shopping, just be sure to call ahead!
June 11 - Fix Your Form Running Clinic
If running is your thing, then this clinic is a must. Get tips from professional Coach Tim Bradley from 10 to 11:30 am on June 11 at the St. Louis University track. The $15 clinic will also offer participants the opportunity to complete form drills, flexibility drills, and running short distances in order to put it all together.
June 11 - Route 66 10K
Celebrate Route 66 with a 10K. The race is hosted by the Metro Milers Running Club every year as a part the city of Edwardsville’s Route 66 Festival. You can register for $35 up until the start of the race at 8am on June 11 in the City Park. And after the run, stay a while to enjoy the historic spread of live entertainment, art vendors, beer, and more.
