Take your next yoga class in a church-turned-skate park

Sk8 Liborius, a transformed church in North St. Louis, already combines punk culture and spirituality. Now, it’s adding yoga to the mix.

A hidden gem in North St. Louis, St. Liborius Church (1850 Hogan) has become the new place to bring your yoga mat and skateboard. On Saturday, the church-turned-skatepark hosted about 50 yoga-heads, who stretched and meditated on the church’s skate ramps. Some guests did the downward dog several feet in the air, while others warmed down in the ramps’ valleys.

“It’s a skate church with big dreams and lots of potential,” says event organizer and yoga instructor Rebekah Jarchow, who works with LotusEater Collective. The collective hosted the event as part of their ongoing efforts to make yoga accessible. Jarchow hopes to organize a yoga session once every week on either Saturday or Sunday mornings.

A five-dollar donation was asked at the door in order to help fund future renovations within the church.
