Inclusion, socialization, and an afternoon of healthy play are the foundations of We Rock the Spectrum, an indoor play area for all kids, including those on the sensory disorder spectrum. Owners Cynthia and Tom Tipton opened the facility, the first of its kind in the Midwest, after adopting a boy with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and high-functioning autism spectrum disorder. “Our facility is ideal to boost your child’s self-confidence,” says Tom. “The best part of my day is when I’m helping a kid use our equipment, and after several times they say, ‘Now I can do it!’” The staff works with children to use the equipment, including a 40-foot zipline, swings, foam pits, trampolines, and a rock wall. We Rock the Spectrum offers open play, fitness, music and art classes, party specials, and camp. In late December, a full- or half-day holiday camp is offered.
