  • Bring your dog to Bark in the Park, where families can enjoy the festival (dog contests and agility courses), run a 5K, or walk in the 1-Mile Walk to End Animal Abuse. All proceeds go to help homeless animals at the Humane Society of Missouri. May 21. 8 a.m.–1 p.m. $35 by April 30, $40 at door (children under 12 and dogs are free). Forest Park.

JUNE

  • Catch Circus Flora’s 30th-anniversary show, Pastime—a baseball-themed adventure with trapeze tricks, juggling, and theatrical stunts—with 10 shows weekly this summer. June 2-July 3. Tickets start at $10. Grand Center, 314-534-1111.
  • For the first time in 10 years, The Wizard of Oz returns to The Muny in all its colorful grandeur. June 13-22. 8:15 p.m. Single tickets go on sale May 28 for $14–$90. Forest Park, 1 Theatre, 314-534-1111, muny.org.

JULY

  • Celebrate Fourth of July weekend at Fair Saint Louis, and enjoy the Family Festival Zone, great food, and live musical performances before nightly fireworks over the Grand Basin. July 2–4. Free. Go online for times. Forest Park.
  • Every Friday in July, bring a blanket, a picnic (or hit the food trucks), and the kids to the Art Hill Film Series for alfresco movie classics like Back to the Future, Jaws, Clueless, and The Sound of Music. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. and movie starts at 9 p.m. Free. Forest Park’s Art Hill, 1 Fine Arts.

AUGUST

  • Head straight for the Kids’ Corner at St. Charles’ Festival of the Little Hills, where kids can make crafts, play with a water hose, or watch children’s performances. You can also shop from more than 300 craft booths. August 19–21. Free. Frontier Park, St. Charles.
  • Join in the nonstop fun of the Festival of Nations, a multicultural extravaganza featuring ethnic food from around the world, high-energy performances, and a global bazaar. August 27 & 28. Free. Tower Grove Park.
