This might not save 2020's summer, but it certainly makes it a little bit better: Belleville's Eckert's (951 South Green Mount) has reopened its Sunflower Trail for the season. This year, the farm also launched an accompanying social media campaign.
The Field of Hope Project encourages guests to spread messages of hope to surrounding communities through photos at Eckert's. The venue is providing signs with inspirational messages such as “Don’t Give Up,” “STL Strong,” and “Stand Tall Together” and offering blank signs for guests to customize their messages.

In a press release, Angie Eckert, vice president of retail operations, said she hopes the messages of solidarity provide some joy during these hard times.
Want to plan your own visit? Field access passes need to be purchased in advance for an additional $3. These reservations limiting the number of patrons in the field at one time ensure social distancing measures can be met. (Visit Eckert’s website for hours.) Masks are strongly recommended when navigating the 5-acres of sunflowers.
