There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of finding your way through a corn-lined labyrinth—especially if there’s a cup of apple cider waiting for you at the end. A variety of mazes dot the regional map each fall, offering St. Louisans plenty of opportunities to get into the seasonal spirit. If you're looking to get lost this fall, consider visiting a maze at one of these local farms.
Cost: Free for children 5 and under; $5 for children 6–11, $7 for guests 12 and older. Combo prices—including unlimited maze access and a ticket to the cow train, hay wagon, and jumping pillow—are $10 for children 6–11 and $12 for guests 12 and older.
Times: 6–10 p.m. Fridays; 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Saturdays.
Located within Robert E. Glazebrook Park in Godfrey, Illinois, the maze is accessible both during the day and at night. You’ll need a flashlight after dark, of course. If you forget yours or don’t have one, there are flashlights available for purchase for $3. An additional haunted maze is open throughout October. Because of all of the scares contained within, the haunted maze is not recommended for anyone under 10 years old. (618-466-3324. 1401 Stamper, Godfrey, Illinois)

This year’s maze at Eckert’s Millstadt location is a tribute to the St. Louis Public School district celebrating 150 years of kindergarten. In addition to the maze, the farm has a seasonal attraction for seemingly everyone, including apple and pumpkin cannons, pony and camel rides, parakeet handling, bonfires, pig races, a haunted wagon ride, and more. All of it is family-friendly, and visits are meant to be both fun and educational. (800-745-0513. 2719 Eckert Orchard, Millstadt, Illinois)

The eight-acre John Deere Corn Maze offers more than a mere walk on a farm. Thanks to Eagle Fork’s partnership with GPS service DevSutes, it's a high-tech experience. Guests can track their progress through the maze on their phones—no app installation is required—simply by logging their visit on Eagle Fork’s website. A “fog” feature on the GPS map makes it so you can’t see areas of the maze you haven’t personally explored. The farm also offers hay rides, pony rides, a train ride for children, horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, pedal-powered karts, apple cannons, a mini excavator rodeo ($10 for 10 minutes), and a 150-foot mega slide.
