For nearly a quarter century, Daniel Epstein has traveled to more than 30 countries, photographing 500 people and interviewing each about their spiritual journey. Put side by side, their portraits make a quiet argument: all of us are on the same journey, and there is no “other.”
Rev. Gina Alicea, director of the Corvus Gallery at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, found Daniel’s work through his website and book and brought it to her students. That became Seeing the Other, which premiered in Chicago in 2023 and went on to a 10-month run at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville.
Now it comes to Principia College, on view throughout the fall.
