As if you needed a reason, National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day is upon us. The delicious holiday of sorts happens on the first Saturday in February and is cause for much rejoicing. St. Louis scoop shops are leaning in most deliciously.

The Fountain on Locust | February 7 & 8

Half Pint at the Annex | February 7
Half Pint at the Annex in Webster Groves’ Old Orchard neighborhood is always open early. While there are no giveaways or breakfast specials, the old-fashioned candy and ice-cream shop (featuring locally made Ronnie’s Ice Cream) would be happy to dish up a sundae on Saturday morning. 8124 Big Bend. Opens at 7 a.m.
Ices Plain & Fancy | February 7
Liquid nitrogen makes some things worse and many things—ice cream, in particular—much better. Ices Plain & Fancy is keeping its holiday menu under wraps for now, but past favorites have included the Donut Drive-In long John Sandwich and Maple Butter French Toast, among others. The store will open early for the special day, at 9 a.m., but no promises that the specials won’t be sold out before it closes at 10 p.m. 2256 39th.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams | February 7
Fitting for an early-morning ice cream treat, Jeni’s scoop shops will have the House Coffee flavor available starting Saturday. It’s made with direct trade specialty coffee and a dusting of espresso from Verve Coffee Roasters. Fan-favorite Maple Soaked Pancakes returns to shops as well. Pajamas will be welcome. Opens at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Serendipity Ice Cream | February 7
A range of treats will await guests at Serendipity: waffle sundaes; Federhofer’s Bakery donut ice cream sandwiches; specialty flavors such as French Toast, Saturday Morning Cartoons, Orange Juice Sorbet; and adult wake-up beverages like Irish Coffee and Hot Toddy. If you are wearing actual pajamas, a free specialty mug full of coffee, tea, or cocoa will be available while supplies last. Early opening at 8 a.m. 4400 Manchester.
Sugarwitch Ice Cream Sandwiches | February 7
The small batch shop in Carondelet may not officially be observing the holiday, but we’re pretty sure it would be OK with showing up in your pajamas and a festive mood on Saturday morning for an ice cream sandwich, sundae, pint, or coffee drink. You’ll be right on time for the Cursed Beignets pop-up, which runs from 8 a.m.–1 p.m.
