Small Change
New Benton Park bar Small Change comes from the minds behind Planter’s House, Ted Charak and Ted and Jamie Kilgore. But this is not Planter’s House: Cocktail prices aren’t quite as steep, and a Falstaff sign hangs above the door. Small Change has the vibe of a neighborhood tavern. Decorations include vintage bar signs and bottle-cap art, and there’s a vending machine inside—but, like Planter’s House, the drinks are carefully crafted. Consider the Mad As Hatters, a “tropical riff” on a Singapore Sling. Small Change also offers a shot dubbed PBJ Time; part one is a peanut butter fat-washed Camus cognac, and part two is Manischewitz concord grape wine. OK, we're intrigued. 2800 Indiana.

No stopping Nudo House
National recognition of St. Louis chefs continues. Qui Tran of Mai Lee and Nudo House, was recently interviewed by Time magazine, in an article titled “Super Bowls.” The story recounts how Tran's family immigrated from Vietnam to the U.S. and set up shop in St. Louis. “I’m just from a typical American family,” Tran says. The article comes on the heels of Nudo House landing on the cover of Food & Wine’s February issue.
