The following information is accurate as of an early-August press date.
Eight restaurant closures in July (including the shutdown of the long-running downtown Syberg’s) were more than offset by 14 openings, among them Malo, Jordan Goodman’s newest restaurant in The Grove, and Byte, a breakfast-and-lunch café in University City. July and early August ended on a sobering note with six more closures: the two newest Crushed Red locations, two Salt + Smoke restaurants, and two Dave and Kara Bailey concepts, including Baileys’ Range in Shaw and the beloved Baileys’ Chocolate Bar in Lafayette Square.
