Editor’s Note: Al’s Cafe, the under-the-radar blue collar staple, shuttered this month after over a century in business. Guerrilla Street Food closed their flagship store (but three other locations remain open). And Steve’s Hot Dogs & Burgers managed to close and then reopen in the same month (thanks to an angel investor). Of the more notable openings this month is Takashima Records in the Grove (a vinyl listening room, bar, and Japanese-fare restaurant), Clark & Bourbon (a modern steakhouse that boasts a singular amenity, the Whiskey Room), and Nomad, chef Tommy Andrew’s highly anticipated sandwich shop in Dogtown.
