Check out the cupped pepperoni on one of the non-vegan items at "90% vegan" Utah Station
The following list is accurate as of a late August press date. A condensed version will be published in SLM's October 2019 issue.
Editor's Note: August was an odd month for restaurants in St. Louis. Just before it began, two beloved eateries—Southtown Pub and Amighetti's on the Hill (the Rock Hill Amighetti's remains open)—closed their doors unexpectedly. The Hill location opened up one day later with a new name on the awning—Colino's Cafe & Bakery—amid some controversy). On the upside, there were 13 openings, including a pizza joint with an unusual spin (Charred Crust), a 90% vegan restaurant with a more unusual spin (Utah Station), Clayton's first Greek restaurant (Katerina's), and Mandy Estrella's first brick and mortar establishment (Mayo Ketchup, pronounced MY-oh ketchup, after the popular Puerto Rican condiment). And while not technically a restaurant, STL Veg Girl Caryn Dugan gets props for founding the St. Louis Center for Plant-Based Living, the country's first fully plant-based nutrition and culinary information center.
