On May 6 and 7, St. Louis Microfest returns to Forest Park after a hiatus during the pandemic.
The festival kicks off Friday with a concert featuring Sean Canan’s VooDoo Players performing from 7:30–9:30 p.m. and opening act Ahna Schoenhoff at 6 p.m. Beverages from 4 Hands Brewing will also be available for purchase, in addition to fare from several local food vendors. Admission is $10.

Then, on Saturday, the main event begins with the 8th annual Micro Run, a 5K through Forest Park starting at 9:30 p.m. There are then two sampling sessions, when visitors can enjoy beer samples from dozens of local and national craft breweries, taste cuisine from such food vendors as Hi-Pointe Drive-In and Chicken Out, and enjoy live music. The first session, from noon–4 p.m., includes the musical stylings of Drew Sheafor and the Saint Boogie Brass Band. Then, the second session, from 5:30–9:30 p.m., features Kevin Babbs and Stone Sugar Shakedown.
St. Louis Microfest is the largest fundraiser of the year for nonprofit youth center Lift For Life Gym. “Many of the kids we serve don’t see the opportunity that’s out there unless we show them through all the positive coaches and mentors in their lives, as well as the college and workplace tours,” says Lift For Life executive director Joe Miller. “Weightlifting is that base to teach them that if they work hard, they can achieve anything.”
