Tiki-themed Shark Bar to open at Ballpark Village this month

Mark your calendars for the grand opening Friday, March 29.

Get ready for longer weekends in the city. This spring, Shark Bar will open at Ballpark Village, becoming the latest addition to Downtown’s dynamic dining and entertainment district directly adjacent to Busch Stadium.

The new venue promises retro surf-and-beach vibes all night long, serving up classic beach-inspired cocktails—everything from frosty rum runners and piña coladas to the signature (and powerful) beach pail punch. Our money is on their “Tiki Time” craft cocktail, fashioned with rum, mandarin and banana liqueur; cold brew coffee; coconut puree; and pineapple.

Shark Bar will celebrate with an open-invitation grand opening on Friday, March 29. The celebration begins at 8 p.m. with DJs, giveaways, and a midnight “beach ball drop” for cash and other fun prizes. The new venue, which replaces the dueling piano bar Howl at the Moon, will serve baseball fans alongside other Ballpark Village tenants, like PBR St. Louis and the Hall of Fame Club, and will offer a fun and laid-back destination spot for happy-hour lovers and Cardinal fans alike.

Munsok So, owner of Drunken Fish, is familiar with the concept. Drunken Fish has a location next to the other Shark Bar, in Kansas City. In a Q&A with St. Louis Magazine last year, he said “Shark Bar is a Cordish Co. concept with longevity; Howl was an outside concept. The one in Power & Light has been there 10 years. I think a beach-themed bar will attract more people than a piano bar.”
