On Monday night, the City of Chesterfield approved building plans for a Shake Shack on a 1.05 acre tract of land at 17312 Chesterfield Airport Road, the site of a former Steak ‘n Shake.
Founded by St. Louis native Danny Meyer, Shake Shack specializes in signature cheeseburgers, 100 percent Vienna beef hot dogs, milkshakes, locally inspired concretes, and crinkle-cut French fries. The Chesterfield site is somewhat fitting, as Meyer took inspiration for the brand from local restaurants that he frequented as a youth, such as Fitz’s, Ted Drewes, and, yes, Steak ‘n Shake.

The first Shake Shack in St. Louis opened in December 2017 at 60 N. Euclid in the Central West End, and the second location opened in June 2020 at 8885 Ladue Road in Ladue. Shake Shack Inc. owns and operates more than 250 locations globally.
An architectural rendering shared on a FOX2 report depicts a 3,655-square-foot, white stone-and-glass structure with a fully covered patio. Ryan Hux, Shake Shack senior GM for the area, told SLM, “We are excited for opportunities to grow the market and grateful for the love we’ve received from the community.”
SLM has reached out to Shake Shack company officials for additional comments and a possible opening date.
