The Overland Farmers' Market boasts many varieties of fresh produce.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of many local events, consumers can still get fresh produce and handmade crafts while connecting with local businesses at area farmers’ markets. To coincide with National Farmers’ Market Week, August 2–8, we’ve compiled a list of markets that are still serving the community.
Ferguson Farmers' Market : Find everything from fresh-cut flowers to gourmet ice pops at 501 S. Florissant every Saturday morning. Before entering the market, guests must stop at the market’s hand-sanitizing station and put on a mask. Separate paths are designated for entering and exiting the market, and vendors are spread out to ensure social distancing. 501 S. Florissant, Ferguson.
Kirkwood Farmers’ Market: Located in the heart of Kirkwood, this farmers’ market is open daily. It features produce, poultry, flowers, food trucks, and even more local businesses, such as Brad’s Kettle Corn and Tropical Moose Shaved Ice. 150 East Argonne, Kirkwood, 314-822-0084.
Lake Saint Louis Farmers’ Market: Every Saturday morning, Lake Saint Louis residents gather among the shops at The Meadows to explore fresh offerings. Stay tuned for special events at the market, such as boat-building and sailing, as well as home and garden Q&As. St. Charles County recommends that residents wear masks when in public spaces. 20 Meadows Circle, Lake St. Louis.
The Land of Goshen Community Market: In Metro East, the Goshen Community Market is a Saturday morning staple in Edwardsville, Illinois. In April, Land of Goshen started an online market with items available for Wednesday pickup at 222 Artisan Bakery. The foundation’s mobile farmers’ market, Beet Box, also makes weekly rounds to serve communities lacking food access. 100 St. Louis, Edwardsville, Illinois, 618-307-6045.
Overland Farmers’ Market: On Saturday mornings, the Overland farmers’ market hosts vendors who specialize in homemade soaps, custom woodworking, clothing, and, of course, plenty of produce. Don’t forget: St. Louis County requires that masks be worn in public spaces. 2500 Woodson, Overland, 314-769-6360.
Soulard Farmers’ Market: Beat the heat by visiting the historic Soulard Farmers Market, where a third of the market is situated indoors. The market's been holding its typical hours throughout the pandemic, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on Wednesdays and 7 a.m.–5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Per St. Louis City mandates, masks are required to enter the market. The number of customers entering the market is limited to help respect social distancing. 730 Carroll, 314-622-4180.
Tower Grove Farmers’ Market: On Saturday mornings, the popular park hosts yoga, along with a bounty of local vendors. The market's also open on Tuesday evenings. Visit tgfarmersmarket.com for a full list of COVID-19 regulations. 4256 Magnolia.
U City Farmers Market: Featuring the freshest products from MO & IL farms, vendors include Biver, Buila, Elixir, Ozark Forest Mushrooms, Spring Fresh, Theodora, and Thies.
