Next Sunday, November 13, a pop-up brunch featuring cereal-themed cocktails and sandwiches will be held at The Gin Room and Salve Osteria, the South Grand bar and restaurant owned by Natasha Bahrami and her husband, Mike Fricker.
Fricker, the Gin Room’s beverage director, says the concept grew out of the family meals prepared by chefs Pat Skiersch and Matt Wynn, who regularly serve up English muffin sandwiches to the restaurant’s staff.

In the past, Fricker has also made cereal-themed cocktails at Grand Spirits Bottle Company, a sister store near The Gin Room and Salve Osteria.
The collective verdict among the staff: “Let’s do brunch!”
Brunch-themed cocktails will include:
- Cap’n Crunch-Infused Tequila PB&J
- Cocoa Puffs-Washed Negroni
- Froot Loops Gin Fizz
- French Toast Milk Punch
- Seasoned Bloody Mary
- Natty Wine Mimosa
The French Toast Milk Punch, for instance, is one of Fricker’s favorites and takes more than 24 hours to make. The drink begins with the kitchen team baking a brioche loaf, which Fricker turns into French toast blended with milk. After straining, the toast-milk is combined with barrel-aged gin, a vermouth blend and citrus, all of which then sits for 24 hours. After more straining, the clear cocktail retains the warm spices of the French toast and is ready to serve.

Fricker notes that the event’s menu will allow staff to “stretch their legs a little bit.” Among the dishes:
- House-made roast beef (pictured above)
- Fried chicken brioche (pictured at right) with basil aioli, tomatoes and arugula; a sausage, egg, and cheese English muffin
- Pulled pork eggs Benedict with smoked pepper hollandaise
- Vegetarian sandwich with eggs, roasted mushrooms, bell peppers, and toum (a Lebanese garlic spread)
All sandwiches come with a choice of sides, home fries, chips, or side salad with Parmesan vinaigrette.
Fricker promises the brunch concept will be “a fun way to have your gin.”
Ticketed reservations include a complimentary mimosa between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
