Options in St. Louis for indulging on National Fried Chicken Day July 6

Grace Meat + Three is pulling out all the stops today.

There’s no end of options for celebrating National Fried Chicken Day on July 6, whether you prefer classic (The Picadilly at Manhattan), soul food (Diner’s Delight), Korean (Chicken 7, Kimchi Guys), Nashville hot (Southern), quick and casual (Porter’s), vegetarian (Sweet Art), cornmeal-breaded (Hodak’s), broasted (a.k.a. pressure-fried) Frank and Helen’s, Chicken Out), Italian (Zia’s on The Hill), or bar-and-grill style (The Pat Connolly Tavern). And if you just blew your budget on fireworks for the Fourth of July, national chains including Popeyes, KFC, and Bar Louie have special deals today.

Grace Meat + Three (4270 Manchester) has a noteworthy offering today, too: a complimentary Popcorn Chicken Cone for every customer. The cone features crispy popcorn chicken in a waffle cone with maple buttercream. It will likely whet your appetite for more chicken and waffles, and owner Rick Lewis and his team are happy to oblige. They’ve brought the weekend brunch chicken and waffles over to the weekday menu—and it’s available all day.

Today also marks the start of a new food challenge at Grace Meat + Three. Inspired by the legendary Blues Brothers, The Jake & Elwood Challenge gives participants 45 minutes to devour a colossal platter of four whole fried chickens, eight slices of bread, 12 pickles, and a Coke.

Winners receive a T-shirt, a paid meal, and bragging rights. Those who eat the challenge “hot” will get an additional basket of merchandise. Lewis is looking forward to serving up “an exciting endeavor that will test the mettle of patrons while providing a truly fun and memorable dining experience.”

Still to come for chicken lovers this month: National Chicken Finger Day on July 27 and National Chicken Wing Day on July 29.
