Kaldi’s Coffee reopens café at Citygarden

After being closed since March 2020, the café is initially offering a limited menu but plans to expand its hours and menu items in the future.

The café at the heart of Citygarden is slated to reopen next week. On July18, Kaldi’s Coffee will celebrate the grand reopening of its downtown location, situated in the picturesque sculpture park.

The location has been temporarily closed since March 2020 during the pandemic. The reboot will be a soft return of sorts, as the space will begin with a limited menu of coffee, tea, smoothies, and select bakery offerings from Companion, as well as house-made scones, muffins, and cookies.

Kaldi’s owners had been eyeing a return to Citygarden since early this year. “We’ve been looking to reopen now for the past six months,” says Kaldi’s co-founder Tyler Zimmer. “Once we finally got the staff in place, it felt like the time was right.”

Initially, the café will be open from 7 a.m.–2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Zimmer plans to expand the hours and the food and beverage options in the future.

The location originally opened in spring 2017. In addition to Citygarden, Kaldi’s has locations in Clayton, Kirkwood, Chesterfield, the Central West End, Washington University’s campus, and Parkview, in addition to Atlanta. A new location with drive-thru service is also set to open in Ellisville on July 25.
