Center Ice Brewery closing its Midtown operation and taproom on February 12

The company’s beers will continue to be available for pickup at the Midtown brewery for a limited time and in select retail outlets afterward.

In a surprise announcement on Facebook last night, Center Ice Brewery (3126 Olive) posted that the lease for its taproom has expired and the owners have elected not to renew it. The last day of taproom service will be tomorrow, February 12, from noon–9 p.m.

Center Ice’s brews (including the recently released line of John P. Ferrara barrel-aged offerings) will continue to be available for pickup at the Midtown brewery for a limited time and in select retail outlets (including Friar Tuck, Total Wine & More, The Wine and Cheese Place, and Randall’s, among others) afterward.

Brewery president Kindle Barber says Center Ice will continue to brew beer in the short term through contract partners. Barber adds that the brewery’s owners are looking at other locations, but they will be focused on distribution for the time being.

As soon as the taproom opened in 2017, Center Ice Brewery became known as a hockey lover’s haven, quickly living up to the tagline, “If you’re a hockey fan, you have to have a beer at Center Ice.”

Notable touches at the taproom included sliding garage doors, as well as tables, the bar top, and the back bar crafted from planks from the former St. Louis Arena, affectionately known as the “old barn,” a reference to the criss-cross vaulted roof made of Douglas fir ribs. The Arena was imploded in grand fashion in February 1999.
