You just can’t get a good Czech meal around these parts, save being invited to the home of one of the great Czech home chefs in town. But there are always the festivals, one of which is the Czech Fall Festival at the American Czech Education Center, which cranks up at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 11. It’s a full day of roast duck, roast pork, chicken paprikash (pictured above), and other Czech food and drink—and, of course, Czech music, courtesy of Joe Polach and the St. Louis Express.
Polish Pals
You just can’t get a good Polish meal around these parts, save being invited to the home of my daughter or any of the other great Polish home chefs in town. But there are always the festivals, one of which is the Fall Festival at St. Stanislaus, which cranks up after 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, November 12. It’s an afternoon of pierogis (pictured at right), kielbasa, golabki, and other Polish food and drink—and, of course, polka music, courtesy of Joe Polach and the St. Louis Express. (Those guys get around.)

OK, so you’ve just opened your new restaurant. Website? Check. Facebook page? Check. Other social media channels? Check. Full hours, location, and menu on all of the above? Check. All set, right? Well, here’s something we’ve recently encountered more than once: Where the heck are you? Yeah, you gave the location in all of your online info, but what happens if you’re in a big shopping center? How am I supposed to know which storefront is 110 Megastripmall Plaza? Even worse, you might be in a tight cluster of retail and restaurants, and you don’t have a number on your door—and your sign is 6 inches-by-6 inches. Save the design cutesiness for your menu and interior, not for the stuff that might just determine your survival.
