We thought it was cool when Andrew Zimmern showed up in town last week to film an episode of Bizarre Foods America (and even gave him a “Welcome to St. Louis” gift).
Little did we know that Natalie Forte, host of America’s Best Bites, a newish TV food show that’s been called “a funnier, better version of Food Network's Diner's Drive-ins and Dives” visited St. Louis last month a bit more surreptitiously, stopping by (at least) The Tavern Kitchen & Bar in Valley Park to film a segment for an upcoming show for its 2013 season that premieres April 20 at 3:30 CDT on the Cooking Channel.
“America’s Best Bites” has an interesting premise, soliciting viewer input via Facebook and Twitter asking for where in the U.S. such bites can be found. And we’ll just come right out and say this: Ms. Forte is eminently more appealing and watchable than the over-the-top Mr. Fieri.
Adhering to the show’s strict guidelines, the folks at The Tavern have been tight-lipped about who and what item(s) were filmed.
The airdate for the St. Louis segment of “America’s Best Bites” has not yet been determined, but we’ll let you know the moment we know.
UPDATE, June 4, 11 am: The airdate for the segment featuring The Tavern is slated for Saturday, July 13th at 3:30 pm CDT. If you've never tuned into America's Best Bites and/or want to see another familiar restaurant receive some plaudits, check out the show on Saturday, June 22 at 3:30 pm CDT, when Vin de Set is scheduled to appear.
