The city's oldest family-operated restaurant is closing its doors after 113 years in business.
The St. Louis Business Journal reports today that Michael and Nancy Beffa, third generation owners of Beffa's, are retiring from the business. The restaurant that became famous for its cafeteria-type service, its clientele--and its total lack of signage--will close its doors on May 27.
In a town that loves its food and its tradition, this is a shock and a blow.
For those unfamiliar with Beffa's--or nostalgic for a final taste--SLM and KPLR's Let's Dish visited there last year. It's video clip #18 here.
