Those of us old enough to remember the heyday of Miss Hulling's Cafeterias might remember the name of Bill Hildebrand, the grandson of founder Kitty Hulling. Bill grew up in the business and, as many do (ahem), went on to spend his life immersed in it.
Some readers may recall Bill from his days of The Arena Club, others may be familiar with his most recent venture, the Blue Sky Cafe and Bar ( 9999 Winghaven Rd in O'Fallon, MO), a neighborhood joint known as the "Home of the 10-ounce Martini," a place that serves "comfort food with a martini twist."
The ever-chipper Cindy Preszler would say "Yessirrree, look for all that Blue Sky to be heading East," while I will merely report that a second store will soon open in a location as unorthodox as Winghaven was 6+ years ago. Look for Blue Sky Towers Cafe to bow in early April at 1034 S. Brentwood (in 2500 SF on the first floor of the University Club Tower building), across from the St. Louis Galleria.
Sources tell Relish that the menu at Towers will be "slightly more upscale" than at the flagship store...all we ask is that it be "The Second Home of the 10-ounce Martini."
