Today is National Doughnut Day. Whether it’s crullers, maple glaze, cakes, or Boston creams, everyone can appreciate a good doughnut. Here are seven spots where you can get your sugar fix.
1. World’s Fair Donuts: The popular shop opens its doors at 4 a.m. The classic glazed doughnut costs a mere 75 cents each. If you’re looking for something a bit more elaborate, the vanilla and chocolate custard pies are divine. (Note: The classic doughnut shop only takes cash.) 1904 S. Vandeventer.

2. Donut Drive-In: The historic shop on Chippewa Street still uses the same recipes as when it opened in the ’50s. Donut Drive-In’s open until midnight on weekends, so you can grab your favorite long john, glazed, jelly- or cream-filled doughnut pretty much anytime today. 6525 Chippewa.
3. KNEAD Bakehouse: Known for using edible plants in their baked goods, KNEAD features two natural ingredient doughnuts this week: a white chocolate and cocoa nib with foraged elderflower, and a foraged honeysuckle doughnut with mulberry and wood sorrel. 3467 Hampton.
4. Half & Half: Beyond the generous-portion breakfast staples, the menu includes cinnamon sugar doughnuts with a ramekin of melted chocolate on the side for maximum dip-ability. 8135 Maryland, 220 W. Lockwood.
5. The Sweet Spot Cafe: Along with this St. Ann shop’s wide variety of sweets, Sweet Spot offers anything from breakfast to dinner: gyros, cheesesteaks, falafel, omelets… The café is offering 10 percent off with the purchase of a dozen doughnuts. 3586 Adie.
6. Strange Donuts: For National Doughnut Day, Strange Donuts is giving out “National Donut Day” T-shirts for donations to its nonprofit, Strange Cares, which awards scholarships to students to attend acting classes, football camps, and 5K races. Kaldi’s: Choose from yeast doughnuts (flavors include chocolate mocha, honey and thyme, and matcha white chocolate) or old-fashioned doughnuts (flavors include creamsicle, Bradbury Robinson, and strawberry rhubarb).
