4 Hands Brewing Co. pop-up kicks off at Pi Pizzeria beginning December 21

The pop-up will coincide with the first night of Pink Floyd tribute band El Monstero’s annual concert run at The Pageant. Over about six weeks, 4 Hands will supply 20 different beers, including varieties only available at the restaurant.

Later this week, Chris Sommers will turn his flagship location of Pi Pizzeria into the first-ever “Pop-Up Brewpub” for 4 Hands Brewing Co.

“We love their style of beer,” says Sommers, whose popular pizzeria has partnered with 4 Hands before on such custom beers as the Pi Pale Ale and Pi Common. “We really wanted to make something special and expand upon our growing feature of 4 Hands.”

Over about six weeks, 4 Hands will supply 20 different beers, including varieties only available at the restaurant. ” We like to push ourselves to look outside the box in order to drive creative, collaborative experiences,” says 4 Hands founder Kevin Lemp, adding, “Pi’s bold pizza flavors pair really well with our beers.”

The pop-up will open December 21, in conjunction with the first night of Pink Floyd tribute band El Monstero’s annual concert run at The Pageant, located across the street from Pi’s East Loop location. The restaurant will offer an El Monstero-inspired pizza, featuring bacon, prosciutto, Berkshire sausage, pepperoni, and soppressata—“appropriately ‘piggy’ à la Pink Floyd,” Sommers says. And 4 Hands will create a yet-to-be-named El Monstero-inspired beer for the occasion. Both items’ sales will support El Monstero’s charity of choice, Backstoppers.

Beyond the beers, artist Jason Spencer (a.k.a. Killer Napkins)—who created a 4 Hands mural across the street at Delmar Hall—painted a mural behind Pi’s bar (pictured above). The design (pictured at right) is available on a limited number of T-shirts as well. Artist Josh Rowan, who’s designed many labels for 4 Hands (not to mention the graphics on SLM‘s December 2016 cover) and whose photography hangs inside Pi, also designed eye-catching graphics for the restaurant’s front windows, including a City Wide-inspired rocket taking off (pictured below).

The project will conclude with 4 Hands’ anniversary celebration, January 26 at Delmar Hall and Pi.

Pi is located at 6144 Delmar, in the East Delmar Loop.
