When the Pettijohn family decided six years ago to enter the hospitality business, the goal was to offer a unique experience. Their big idea? Build three treehouses—Sunrise, Sunset, and Moonlight—and welcome guests to enjoy the views up high. Cedar plank siding gives each treehouse a rustic look; inside, you’ll find crisp white beadboard and hardwood-look laminate floors that impart polished charm. Each treehouse has been built with 38 windows to maximize natural light. Moonlight is wheelchair-accessible.
Enchanted Treehouse | Grubville
Set in a quiet 70-acre pine forest in Jefferson County, this two-story treehouse mirrors the serenity of the surrounding land. Proprietor Laura Lynne Dyer built the treehouse to serve as an escape from the everyday, providing year-round comfort for guests in a structure equipped for all seasons. The first floor features a kitchen, living room, dining area, and bathroom; the loft holds a queen bed, four twin beds, two hammocks, and a bench for hanging out and reflecting.
Twisted Sassafras Treehouse | Cape Girardeau
Just a few minutes from Cape Girardeau, the custom-built Twisted Sassafras Treehouse sits on 10 acres and provides a view of the water. Windows throughout the entire front of the house allow ample natural light to stream through the open-concept treehouse. The deck on the front of the house has privacy walls, a two-person hot tub, chairs, and a grill. Cozy high-top bar seating for two is directly inside, as well as a living area with a loveseat, smart TV, and fireplace. A compact kitchen sits to the right of the entrance. Perfect for couples, the bedroom area has a king-size bed with a custom-made wooden frame. The bathroom is spacious, with a two-person shower and cleansing bar.
Glade Top Fire Tower | Bradleyville
Nearly 40 feet tall, the Glade Top Fire Tower sits among the trees. This treehouse-for-two was built to resemble an old lookout structure or fire tower, with one flight of steps up to a cozy deck and a second flight up to the main living quarters. When guests arrive, they can drop their bags in the luggage basket and send them to the top floor with the push of a button. A perfect destination for couples, the living area on the top floor has a king bed, a half bath, and a kitchenette with a bar sink, mini fridge, coffee station, and more. The walkway on the backside of the tower has an outdoor shower that’s best used under the stars. The deck below has a daybed swing and chairs, and a natural rock hot tub on the ground floor offers a relaxing oasis.
Tranquil Treehouse on Table Rock Lake | Eagle Rock
The Tranquil Treehouse sticks out among the trees with red accents on the roof and front door. Sixteen feet above the forest floor, the lofted deck has seating for four near the front door. This eclectic treehouse sleeps four with a lofted bedroom and a pull-out sleeper sofa. The home has beautiful interior walls with different shades of wood throughout, including a colorful accent wall next to the stairs to the loft. Throughout the home, one-of-a-kind furniture and decorations create a homey feel. The first floor has a colorful kitchen and dining seating for two; a bathroom with a soaking tub; and a record table, fireplace, and a Legends Ultimate arcade gaming system. Highlights in the loft include a queen-size bed with a frame made from a 1956 Chevy, antique luggage fashioned into night tables, and a stained-glass window above the bed. Outside, guests can enjoy the outdoor shower and a private yard with seating around a fire pit.

Eagle Crest Treehouse | Florence
This one-and-a-half story house on a sustainable site provides a quiet escape into the woods. The lofted deck has high-top seating overlooking the serene forest and private lake. String lights create a cozy ambience for nighttime hangouts on the deck, the hammocks below, or the fire pit and picnic table on the forest floor. The interior comfortably sleeps four, with a queen bed and sleeper sofa on the main floor, a lofted queen-size bed, and a fully equipped private bathroom. A privacy curtain can separate the main floor sleeping arrangements. Guests have access to a 1-mile hiking trail and a lake with a beach, where guests can use kayaks, paddle boards, a canoe, a non-motorized boat.
Eight years ago, when Cheryl Holzapfel had this one-bedroom, one-bath treehouse built near the bank of Big Creek, she intended it to be a place where her three grandchildren could play. But now that the kids are older, Holzapfel has listed it on Airbnb for the past three summers. The setting is a nature lover’s paradise, located just a short drive from Current River State Park and Echo Bluff State Park. (Alley Spring and Rocky Falls are a bit farther.) After spending the day exploring the outdoors, guests cross the swinging bridge to the deck, where they can listen to the sounds of a nearby stream and enjoy the wildlife.

The Getaway Treehouse & Jacuzzi Bath House | Cassville
Nestled into the treetops, the Getaway Tree Suite is a magical retreat with a private jacuzzi bathhouse. With a queen bed and two single beds in the loft, the treehouse is ideal for a couple’s escape or a family with children over six years of age. The two spaces are connected by a walkway bridge, so bringing houseshoes is recommended. Located on 10 wooded acres near Missouri’s Roaring River State Park, guests can enjoy hiking trails, a spring-feed trout hatchery, and fly-fishing spots.
Robber’s Roost Tree House | Excelsior Springs
Set on a 200-acre ranch just five minutes from downtown Excelsior Springs, this treehouse is the perfect escape. Perched above a rocky creek and surrounded by oak and sycamore trees, the treehouse offers scenic views and cozy furnishings. On warm summer days, take your coffee on the veranda or by the propane fireplace in the winter. When you’re not relaxing in the treehouse, you can spend your days kayaking, swimming, or fishing on the nearby 15-acre, spring-fed lake.
