Have you ever wanted to browse jewelry designs while sipping cocktails? Chris Phillips had the same idea. But most importantly, he wanted to put some fun and intimacy back into physically shopping.
Owner Chris Phillips created The Diamond Bar to “bridge the gap between the traditional jewelry store and the online shopping for jewelry” with a focus on transparency in jewelry selection.

After a soft launch on May 28, the luxury jewelry shop (13360 Clayton)—complete with a fully stocked bar that guests can choose beverages from—celebrated its grand opening over the weekend on June 2.
“I use the word first luxury door shop because of the space itself,” Phillips says of the 906-square-foot shop, complete with 15-foot ceilings with exposed wood and walnut on the floor below. “There are beautiful, beautiful stories here, but I feel like mine’s a little bit different.”

In addition to hosting events for guests (“rose gold and rosé girls’ nights to bourbon tastings for men who may be getting ready to pop the question”), Phillips wants his shop to make guests feel comfortable, not pressured. “I hope women come and hang out and enjoy if they want to have girls night or guys can feel comfortable to come in and sit down in a chair and have a conversation about diamonds or earrings or whatever it is that they’re purchasing. I want to really educate the buyer on what they’re buying.”
Phillips, who has spent almost two decades working in jewelry and sets the store’s diamonds himself, says the shop offers handcrafted jewelry, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, as well as one-of-a-kind pieces.

“I want clients to feel like it’s limitless, I want them to feel that even if they only want to spend $100, that their $100 is spent in a store that they feel they got something special,” Phillips says. “I just I really want The Diamond Bar to feel luxurious, but open to everybody.”
