In the heart of St. Louis’ Botanical Heights neighborhood is a family-owned home products company that manufactures and sells close to 100 household products across the country and overseas.
This year, Willert Home Products, led by the founder’s son Bill Willert, launched Ty-D-Bol Natural, a line of bathroom and toilet bowl cleaners formulated with plant-based ingredients that are biodegradable, non-toxic, and free of harsh chemicals, artificial dyes and perfumes.

“American consumers are looking for safe cleaners that perform, but at a decent price. Ty-D-Bol Natural products are the smart choice because they effectively kill odor-causing bacteria and are offered at a price people can afford,” says Shelley Cade, vice president of sales and marketing.
The Ty-D-Bol line of products is currently sold online at amazon.com.
Founded in 1946 by Missourian A.W. Willert Jr., the company began by manufacturing just a single product, moth protection for garment bags, for one customer. Today, it sells approximately 97 million retail products annually worldwide, including the Ty-D-Bol line of bathroom and toilet bowl cleaners, airBOSS air fresheners, and private label products made exclusively for Wal-Mart and Walgreens.
Willert Home Products started with nine employees and a 3,000-square-foot factory in East St. Louis, IL. Today, nearly 150 people are employed at the St. Louis headquarters and 250 more work in its factories across the United States and abroad.
