On Olive development in Grand Center hits the market

To date, five houses have sold in private, off-market sales and three more are currently under contract. Nine homes, in addition to two loft-style condominiums set atop the historic Wolfner building, are still available.

The much-anticipated On Olive development, located on a one-block stretch between Vandeventer Avenue and Spring Avenue in Grand Center, has officially hit the market with up-to-date images of exterior and interior spaces.

This first phase includes 17 homes designed in four unique architectural styles. The development offers an interesting mix of amenities, including a dog park, meditation garden, outdoor grilling area and fire pit, and its very own food forest

To date, five houses have sold in private, off-market sales and three more are currently under contract. Nine homes, in addition to two loft-style condominiums set atop the historic Wolfner building, are still available. Both the single-family homes and the condos share a clubhouse, fitness center, and large outdoor pool.

On Olive is a collaboration between Emily Rauh Pulitzer, the philanthropist and founder of the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, and Steve Trampe of Owen Development. In selecting a group of internationally renowned architects to design the residences, Pulitzer set in motion the realization of an artistic vision that proposes home designs that feel authentic to the local environment, create comfortable living spaces, encourage interaction, spark creativity, and allow for spontaneity.

In addition to the architects chosen for phase 1, two emerging architects have been tapped to design houses on the north side of Olive Street. They are L.A.-based Cory Henry of Atelier Cory Henry, and Constance Vale of Constance Vale Studio in St. Louis. More information about phase 2 of the development is expected later this year.

Confluence House

Confluence House is a nod to St. Louis’ location at the confluence of the Mississippi, Missouri, and Illinois Rivers. But the name also refers to the interplay between the house’s social and private spaces, which allow for a variety of uses.

The 3,510-square-foot home, designed by Mexico City-based firm Tatiana Bilbao Estudio, features a dramatic spiral staircase that spans from the lower level to the second floor with a skylight. The house includes four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a private outdoor space.

In addition to designing Confluence House, Tatiana Bilbao Estudio contributed to the overall design of On Olive. Although the 17 houses in phase one were designed by four architects, they are unified by their exteriors. All of the houses are brick—a nod to local history—but they transition from red brick on the west side to gray brick on the east.

Lightwell House

Natural light reigns in the aptly named Lightwell House, designed by Mexico City-based architectural studio Productora. According to its website, Productora’s work “is distinguished by an interest in precise geometries, the production of clearly legible projects with limited gestures and the search for timeless buildings in their material and spatial resolutions.”

The 3,168-square-foot house features a 17-foot-high clerestory window over the kitchen that spills natural light into every room of the main level. The residence has three bedrooms and three bathrooms spread over two floors, as well as floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto a large private terrace.

Botanica House

MOS Architects, based in New York, designed Botanica House to seamlessly incorporate nature throughout the space. The 2,920-square-foot house includes three bedrooms and four bathrooms spread throughout two levels, as well as a private outdoor space with a gas fireplace.

The two first-floor bedroom suites each look out onto their own small, private garden—one of the most unique features of the house. The two ensuite bathrooms also have skylights and rainfall shower heads.

Sanctuary House

Sanctuary House, designed by Estudio Macías Peredo of Guadalajara, Mexico, takes the separation of the social and private spaces of a house even further. The house is H-shaped, with the two wings connected by the entryway. The open kitchen, living room, and dining room are located in one wing, while the bedrooms and bathrooms are in the other wing. The 2,936-square-foot house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a private courtyard and outdoor space.

In addition, Sanctuary House is built on an elevated platform, which gives it a unique perspective over the development’s common garden area.
