Behind the plush furniture and posh accents that fill the newly opened Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams signature store in Plaza Frontenac (1701 S. Lindbergh, 800-489-4195, mgbwhome.com) is a spirit of community. Though the store is a national chain, it has firmly cemented its local roots by giving back to St. Louis causes. “We don’t want to simply provide an opportunity for people to spend money—we want to give back,” says general manager Paul Reigelsberger. The store’s grand opening last fall raised $12,000 for Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis, with $5,000 donated by the company and $7,000 raised through a raffle, ticket sales, and a silent auction. The store also hosted a cocktail party for the Human Rights Campaign’s local chapter and helped raise more than $8,000 through auction donations. And this spring, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams will serve as a corporate sponsor for the Missouri East chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers’ inaugural Design Excellence Awards.
