Courtship: For Nick Woodcock and Korri Sears, it all happened fast—that’s how love rolls when you just know. Nick’s sister introduced the two in 2015 at a church campout in Greenville, Illinois. Living in his hometown of Decatur, he was torn between moving to Asheville, North Carolina and St. Louis. Nick and Korri kept in touch through social media, and she subtly suggested he choose St. Louis before asking Nick on a date.
After moving to St. Louis, he planned an evening on historic Main Street in St. Charles (where Korri hails from) at the inaugural Pumpkinfest. They currently reside in St. Louis, where Nick is the chief synergy officer at Park Avenue Coffee, and Korri is the director of resources at Love the Lou farm.

Proposal: While visiting a friend in Houston, Nick and Korri traveled to Magnolia Farms in Waco, Texas, the film site of the popular HGTV show Fixer Upper. On the drive, she mentioned in passing that her nail polish was chipped and fading, which prompted a surprisingly shocked reaction from Nick. Confused as to why it mattered, little did Korri know, Nick planned to put a ring on it. He proposed in the farm’s garden in front of a small, suspecting audience of strangers.
Ceremony: Intrigued by the structure’s historic architecture—the building was constructed of all its original stones—Nick and Korri chose to marry at the Old Stone Chapel in St. Charles. One of their best friends officiated the non-denominational ceremony. Minimal decor, from the bouquets to the pews’ accents, featured paper flowers crafted by Korri’s mother. A special ritual, they lit the same unity candle as Korri’s parents’ years ago.
Reception: Korri and Nick were drawn to the simplicity and rustic vibe of the hall above the chapel, which they selected for their reception. In between the ceremony and reception, a cocktail hour was held there for guests while Korri and Nick took photos on Main Street. As lovers of the outdoors, one of their most cherished memories of the day was being photographed on the beautiful riverfront. They enhanced the space’s rustic-ness with centerpieces of wooden slabs featuring seasonal wildflowers; the guest favors, jars of homemade apple butter made by Korri’s grandmother; and a cake topped with a squirrel, Nick’s self-proclaimed spirit animal. Leaving the reception, they marveled at the blur of a night and toasted to the Seattle honeymoon that awaited.
