This actress’ white wig hints she was in 1944’s The Vagabond King, an operetta about French poet-thief François Villon. Her fitting evokes a very American take on royalty: the Disney princess, particularly Cinderella’s trade-in of a sad, mouse-sewn party frock for a gown trailing what looks like actual stardust. The Muny’s produced Cinderella five times since, not to mention Beauty and the Beast—this summer marks that show’s third appearance in 10 years.
