Straight No Chaser
Freedom Young still remembers the very first time he stepped out onstage as the newest member of the chart-topping a cappella group Straight No Chaser.
“I was just amazed at the response from the crowd,” Young says. After his first night performing alongside bandmates Randy Stine, Tyler Trepp, Seggie Isho, Michael Luginbill, Walter Chase, Jerome Collins, Steve Morgan, and Jasper Smith, he says he had to ask if the crowds were “that insane” every night. Turns out, they are.
“There are standing ovations every night,” says Young, who joined the group earlier this year. “I don't think I've ever experienced anything like it. I haven't quite felt this much love consistently ever before.”
It’s that love that has allowed Straight No Chaser to spend 25 straight years bringing their vocal styling to audiences across the country and around the world. This week, their ongoing The 25th Anniversary Celebration tour will make a stop in St. Louis on December 8 at The Fox.
The much-anticipated show will include both holiday favorites such as "Silver Bells" and "Frosty the Snowman” and dynamic covers of mainstream hits like Harry Styles’ “As It Was” and The Jacksons’ “Blame It on The Boogie.”
“For two hours, we want to be able to take your mind away from all your troubles and just let you have a great time,” says Young. “We get people all the time who write to us about how our singing lifts their spirit, and those are the things that make you realize that what you’re doing is what you are meant to do.”
Tickets are still available for Straight No Chaser’s The 25th Anniversary Celebration tour at The Fox on December 8 at 7:30 p.m.
