The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra hopes to welcome more classical listeners to its upcoming concerts through a new voucher program at St. Louis County Libraries.
As of February 7, all St. Louis Public Library and St. Louis County Library locations will offer vouchers for SLSO events, which range from youth orchestra viewings and family concerts to classical programs. The goal of the partnership between the SLSO and SLCL is to broaden the accessibility of these events, allowing newcomers to experience the symphony for free.

The vouchers provide prospective SLSO attendees with up to two tickets to a classical event or up to four tickets to family concerts. Upcoming events include Musical Fables, featuring Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf; Live at the Pulitzer: Material and Memory, which is inspired by St. Louis’ rich architectural history; and family concerts such as Tiny Tunes: The Lion and the Mouse.
“This collaboration with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra aligns perfectly with our mission to support the community by providing access to a wide range of cultural experiences,” said Kristen Sorth, St. Louis County Library director and CEO, in a press release announcing the collaboration. “This partnership will connect patrons to an incredible St. Louis institution, fostering a love for music that will resonate for years to come.”

Founded in 1880, the SLSO is the second-oldest symphony in the country and features an award-winning ensemble of musicians. During the renovation of Powell Symphony Hall, events are being held primarily at Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the Stifel Theatre.
Eric Dundon, public relations director for the SLSO, says that while ticket vouchers are currently only applicable to the 2024 orchestra season, the program could tentatively extend to future seasons as demand increases. As of now, the SLPL program runs through the end of April.
Ticket vouchers are available at all St. Louis Public Library and St. Louis County Library locations while supplies last.
