The 2022 Bon Jovi tour has raised some eyebrows. Much has been said about Jon Bon Jovi’s vocal quality in recent years (and whether it really matters, at the end of the day). But SLM was at Enterprise Center on April 21 to snap a few photos as the show began, and what we briefly noted was lots of nostalgia—from the familiar Grammy-winning arena rock to fans decked out in fringed boots, floppy cowgirl hats, and ripped jeans—easily transporting us back to the ’80s. Fan reactions were mixed, with some leaving early, while others called it a “great show” and shouted out the band for taking time to speak on Ukraine.
There were lots of smiles on stage from the band members themselves, who were clearly enjoying the energy. Jon Bon Jovi worked the crowd with a twinkle in his eye, and that’s what most fans seemed to be there for—to swoon over their favorite idol and sing along to every hit performed, flooded with fond memories of younger days and soaking in some of the newer material.

Alton, Illinois, rockers Pioneer Salesmen won the coveted opening slot through a contest put on by Bon Jovi. The quartet formed during their recent time at Principia College in Elsah had just under 20 minutes to perform their brand of ’70s-influenced rock to a growing crowd.
