A breakup, a move, the birth of a child, a spiritual revelation—any one of these could inspire evocative musical catharsis. When they happen all at once—and happen to someone with a deep well of talent who’s been making music for herself since the age of 13—The Bloom Experience happens.
Bloom’s lush, layered vocals evoke the blissed-out haze between transcendent sex and deep, soul-healing sleep. Her EP, [SIN]SES, came out at the end of 2016, the result of a collaboration with producer Dylan Brady. Since then, her live performances and trippy videos have been grabbing St. Louis’s attention, making her one to watch this summer.
The EP was the product of life upheavals that supercharged her creativity and drive, she says. “After having a kid, I went through a lot of life changes. I got really confident and I started to pursue music. I became a new person.”
This summer, she has two major releases planned: a 1960s-inspired project called Psychedelic Bloom, and her second child. Don’t expect many performances until the fall, but keep an eye out for those videos.
