Every pop-up event will feature an array of expert exhibitors, which will offer tips to make your lifestyle, workplace, and community greener. Each participating location will also offer activities, tours, and workshops unique to their cultural institution.

“Each institution is finding something they’re passionate about that they can do,” says Joyce Gorrell, sustainability projects manager at Missouri Botanical Garden’s EarthWays Center. “So every date will be a little different—a different curated lineup of talks and tours related to that institution.”

The series began with an event at the Saint Louis Art Museum on June 3. On June 17, the Science Center’s event will focus on bicycling. Visitors can enjoy a morning ride in Forest Park, mountain-bike games, a chance to create upcycled bike accessories, and more cycling- themed activities. Such workshops as “Eat the Weeds,” “Foraging Mushrooms in the Wild,” and “Are E-bikes for You?” will also be featured, along with two family-friendly story-time activities.

Then, on July 8, the Saint Louis Zoo will feature workshops, such as “Mosquito Alert STL,” along with guided walking tours and family-friendly activities, including “Co-existing with Carnivores.”

The events on July 22 (at the Missouri History Museum) and August 5 (at the Missouri Botanical Garden) are still in the works, but each event is certain to be a day filled with sustainability and learning.

Hosted by Missouri Botanical Garden’s EarthWays Center, in partnership with the Zoo Museum District institutions, each pop-up event runs from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and will be included with general admission to each institution.
