Cute-ify your Tuesday night at Cat Clips: A Competition in Cuteness! The star-studded affair, at Urban Chestnut in the Grove, features dozens of amateur cat videos and benefits Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center.
“Who doesn’t like watching cat videos?” says Stacey Lewis, development coordinator at Animal House. (Fun haters, that’s who.) “You get into kind of a click hole, even on YouTube, watching these great videos.”

The micro-movies came in response to a call for submissions, and each one of the submitters contributed to Animal House’s funding via their entry fee. Most of the 35 videos that will screen at the second annual Clips are St. Louis kitties cuttin’ up—though at least one has come all the way from California.
“People are able to capture cats doing those funny things, those adorable things, doing those cat things!” says Lewis. “It just goes to show you don’t have to be a professional to do this. Just use your phone, just catch things that really stand out to you!”
Expect a range of examples from the internet’s most beloved genre.
“We have a wonderfully wide assortment, from very, very short, just a couple seconds, up to that two-minute mark,” Lewis says. “They just really are adorable and funny—it shows how special that relationship is.”
The judges include Cinema St. Louis’ Cliff Froehlich, Kelly Jackson from KSDK, and Urban Chestnut’s Gillian Kuplent. And the winning clip will nab its auteur a cool $250. KMOV’s Meghan Danahey emcees.
The family-friendly event will have movie snacks, UC beer, raffle items, and a green-screen photo booth.
Catch Cat Clips: A Competition in Cuteness! from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Urban Chestnut in The Grove, 4465 Manchester. Tickets are $20–$40.
