SLM profiled in our December issue, is one to watch. She's the music department coordinator at KDHX, books acts for The Stage, and performs with other local musicians Tuesday nights at The Dark Room. Her latest fan: her "forever president" Barack Obama. The 44th president, who is known for releasing lists of books and music he's enjoyed at the end of the year, named Saputo's song "Historia De un Amor" one of his favorites of 2018.
The young musician posted the news to Facebook with the caption: "My forever president put my song 'Historia De un Amor' on his Best songs of 2018 list! I fell down the stairs. Come back Barack."
You can listen to the song below:
Also gracing the list were songs by Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe—pretty great company for Saputo. Obama is a noted Lamar and Monáe fan. In 2016, the trio sang "Happy Birthday" to the Obamas' daughter Malia. Could a duet with Obama be in Saputo's future? We hope so.
