Webster Groves Hosts Its Annual “Art on the Town,” This Saturday

On Saturday, October 12, Webster Groves will host the free, annual event, Art on the Town. This event brings together local artists, performers and musicians to share their talents with the community, as well as invite the crowds to join them.

Janice Seele, President of the Webster Community Arts Foundation, is excited for the event, as always, and says, “I am looking forward to filling the streets with the arts, and people creating art, and watching art and really seeing art in action. Most of our artists will be demoing to some extent. We want people to really experience the wonder of art in creation. People can watch artists create art. They can create art themselves. We have a lot of hands-on activities that people can take part in and a lot of performances that people can watch. Some of our performances will invite the audience to participate as well, particularly children.”

They are expecting crowds of a couple thousand and Seele says there will be food available as well, though it will be limited at the prime event site on Allen Avenue.

“However,” Seele says, “a wide variety of Webster restaurants will be participating with specials of their own throughout the walkable area of the event.  The event expands from Allen to Lockwood and Gore, where many wonderful restaurants are participating in the event.  Immediately next to our prime Allen location, Straub’s will have a food tent offering several delicious options and there will be kettle corn available in the prime activities area.”

Art on the Town kicks off at noon. At 5 p.m., The Reserve featuring Javier Mendoza will play, and this will immediately followed by the Gallery Crawl, which lasts from 6:30 until 8 p.m.

 “Webster is an arts community and everyone is getting behind us to share the arts with the St. Louis area. Whatever people have planned for the day, we’re hoping they can come by and experience the arts. It will be a wonderful event,” says Seele.
