Mary Jane’s Holds Closing Sale Through September 2

Through September 2, Mary Jane’s (387 N. Euclid, 314-367-8867) is having a huge sale, with merchandise marked from 25 to 75 percent off the original prices. The reason behind the sale, however, will come as a disappointment for many of the boutique’s longtime patrons: The St. Louis location is closing after five years in business.

“It was a very difficult decision to make because I really wanted it to work out,” says store owner Lori Harris. “But the Central West End and Mary Jane’s have been hard hit over the last few years, with crime and the recession. Shoppers haven’t bounced back the way we wanted [them] to.”

Harris opened her brightly colored store—stocked with shoes, clothing, denim, and accessories—in the Central West End in 2008, after the success of Mary Jane’s original location in Park City, Utah. A native of North County, Harris says, “I will miss having this connection to St Louis. It allowed me to spend more time with friends and family while running a fun business.”

Even after the St. Louis location’s last day in business, Mary Jane’s website will continue to feature new fashions on a daily basis, she says. Customers also can contact the store through social media or by calling the Utah location at 435-645-7463.
