Everyone has at least one room in their home that they would love to renovate, and we all secretly wish that we could just wave a magic wand to effortlessly transform it. It’s hard to know where to start, though, and much easier to put it on our “someday” list, which we never seem to have time for. So when is a good time to renovate? Here are just three examples of how Karr Bick helped clients create #NothingOrdinary spaces.
1) When the house feels outdated, it’s time for a refresh.
These Kirkwood homeowners, for instance, decided that they were tired of walking upstairs to their historic home’s second floor and seeing need everywhere: peeling wallpaper, stains, a crack in the ceiling, a taunting half wall. Finally, the couple said, “It’s time,” and called Karr Bick Kitchen & Bath to renovate the entire second floor.
The couple knew about Karr Bick’s reputation for renovating historic homes and creating #NothingOrdinary spaces. Every project is customer-inspired and layered with attention to texture, color, and detail. The project included renovating a seating area with a stained-glass window, a master bedroom, a master bathroom, two bedrooms, and a second bathroom, as well as adding a second-floor laundry. The homeowners decided to ditch the stress and hire Karr Bick to do everything. From design to material sourcing, construction to interior design finishes, the team at Karr Bick shouldered the load and guided the homeowners from start to finish.
“The whole thing is a beautiful piece of art that we get to live in,” the homeowners beamed. Today, they can enjoy their renovated space—what was once a stressful place is now a restful place.
2) When your family grows, it’s time to change how you use the space.
Ashley Obradovits, Karr Bick’s design team lead for interiors, grew up with another homeowner and had recently reconnected. Obradovits created a vibrant space for the homeowner that would welcome a baby daughter and serve as a sophisticated space to grow and mature for years to come. The resulting space is timeless, feminine, and infused with the family’s love of color. In many ways, it embodies Karr Bick’s mission: “It always ends up being a space you don’t want to leave. That’s really the goal of every space we create. It’s the #NothingOrdinary magic.”
3) When a wall needs to come down, it’s time to renovate.
These homeowners had a kitchen that was too small for their bustling family, for example, and hired Karr Bick to help create a new space. Careful space planning in historic homes and complicated structural changes are Karr Bick’s specialties. Taking down a wall and annexing another room gave the family a spacious kitchen that suits their lifestyle.
The client was an interior designer whose talent shines throughout the space in the textures and colors of tile, light fixtures, and barstools. Working with Wendy Kuhn, Karr Bick senior kitchen and bath designer, they were able to bring all of the design choices to be scrutinized until they were just perfect. Light, color, and textures merge to create a visual feast.
It was also important for the client to have a workspace, which can be hidden away while entertaining at the bar but is easily accessible when work needs to get done. Double doors fold in for a computer workstation that’s flanked by inconspicuous file cabinets.
Karr Bick’s nationally award-winning design team, combined with the company’s craftsmen construction team and interior designers, create kitchens, baths, and other spaces that are customer-inspired, carefully curated, and #NothingOrdinary. They help clients ditch the stress, enjoy the process, and, of course, the end result. Karr Bick handles everything from start to finish and all of the details in between.
