At the corner of Olive and McKnight in University City, a familiar name is opening its doors in a new way. In early September, Royal Banks of Missouri will welcome the community to its refreshed location near the Market at Olive development, a move that is less about changing addresses and more about being part of something bigger.
In the same community where it was founded 60 years ago, the locally owned and operated bank is renewing its commitment to serving its neighbors, reinvesting in the place it calls home, and reimagining what modern banking looks like.
Founded by local business leaders in University City, Royal Banks of Missouri opened its doors in March 1964. Its footprint may have expanded over the decades, but the bank’s commitment to personalized service and community investment has never wavered.
“As we begin our sixth decade in University City, we are proud to open a new and beautiful building to serve our clients,” says Mitch Baden, president and chief executive officer at Royal Banks of Missouri. “Our new office reflects the level of commitment we make in all the communities we serve.”
The revitalized branch combines the familiar and the modern. Its exterior layout will mirror its branch located at 7701 Delmar Boulevard, but with a brand-new lobby designed to welcome clients with warmth and efficiency. Two interactive teller machines will allow customers to connect virtually and in real time with a banker, offering convenient service hours: 8 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday. The upgrades blend technology with the personal touch that Royal Banks of Missouri is known for.
This move is not the creation of a new branch but a relocation that keeps the bank rooted in University City while positioning it in one of the St. Louis area’s most active developments. Situated in the Market at Olive, the branch is part of the growth reshaping the community.
“It was important that we remain in the Third Ward of University City, where our story began,” says Katie Karraker, Royal Banks of Missouri officer and marketing manager. “Our move to the new location is a symbol of our continued dedication to serving the people of this community, and this is a chance to refresh and renew our presence in our original home.”

The refreshed location also showcases Royal Banks’ investment in supporting community organizations with its new community room. Open to the public, the space offers a gathering place for neighborhood associations, nonprofit board meetings, local workshops, and other events that bring residents together. It’s a clear indicator of the bank’s mission to be both a trusted financial partner and an engaged neighbor.
As it celebrates 60 years of serving St. Louis, Royal Banks of Missouri continues to find new ways to serve its community, and this relocation blends refresh, renewal, and reinvestment. Stop by the new University City branch’s grand opening and ribbon-cutting on October 14 from 5–7 p.m. to experience the video teller machines, see their welcoming lobby, and discover how you can reserve the community room for your next meeting or event.
