Here’s how to get started with your bathroom remodel today

Take the stress out of your remodel with this step-by-step guide from Crescent Plumbing Supply.

Crescent Plumbing Supply recently debuted a new 4,000-square-foot showroom that’s sure to inspire your next remodel. It marks Crescent’s third showroom, in addition to The Kohler Signature Store in St. Louis and in Indianapolis. As you’re browsing through all of the shiny new materials, though, you’ll likely begin to realize how much work is involved. That’s where Crescent’s skilled team of design consultants comes in. They can help break down your project into manageable steps, from knowing which materials to select first to helping coordinate delivery with your contractor on install day. Here’s what to expect from your Crescent Plumbing Supply design consultation, with helpful design tips along the way.

1. Establish the details of the remodel. To get your remodel started, you’ll meet with one of Crescent Plumbing Supply’s skilled and experienced design consultants, who will get all of the basic details of your project and go over your budget, timeline, and other parameters of the remodel. At this point in the process, it’s not mandatory to have a contractor or team of professionals lined up, but if you do, share that with the design consultant so they can coordinate on the project. Don’t have a contractor lined up? Crescent can connect you with a number of preferred vendors.

Designer Tip: Consider how you will use this room/rooms in your home, and how you want your space to feel. For the kitchen, do you need more than a kitchen faucet? (i.e. pot filler, soap dispenser, disposal button, instant hot water?) For your sink, do you prefer one large basin or two separate spaces? And in the bathroom, how will you use this space? Would you like a hand shower for easier cleaning? All of these thoughts help to create the spaces you will love to live in. —Carter

2. Make your big selections. Now is when the fun begins. Along with your design consultant, walk the showroom floor to pick out the foundation of your new bathroom: plumbing, lighting, cabinets, and tile. Be sure to ask about the lead time of the products you’ve selected to ensure they align with the timeline of your project. With Crescent’s expansive showroom, you’ll love being able to see and feel the finishes and materials up close to determine the best fit for your needs.

Designer Tip: Bring in inspirational photos. This helps us navigate what styles to show you. Establish what your non-negotiables for the remodel will be. For example, if you want steam in your shower, you may need to cut back. —Erin S.

3. Pick out the small details. With the base of your design selected, the design consultant can help put the rest of the pieces together with paint colors, hardware, accessories, and other details. To help make decisions amongst a sea of options and find a cohesive design, Crescent has a number of vignette displays to show customers how products look together. These selections are often able to arrive quicker than your bigger selections, but you’ll still want to check the availability and timeline of the materials.

4. Get a bid on your project. Now that your materials are selected, Crescent can help put together the specifications of your order to share with your contractor, so you can receive a price estimate or put the project out to bid with contractors. This is also when the designer can put in the order for your products and parts and see what’s in stock. The availability of your materials should also help narrow down an estimated timeline for your project, and your design consultant should be able to track the progress and delivery dates so installation dates can be planned with the contractor.

Designer Tip: Make sure to go over your list of materials with your contractor to make sure they will work with the space you have. And don’t wait until the last minute to order. Expedite fees can be costly. –Marla B.

5. Get materials delivered to start the project. Crescent remains with customers through installation, holding items in their warehouse until your contractor is ready for them. The same design consultant you planned your dream space with will ensure all of your materials are in hand, making sure there are no surprises when your contractor is on site installing your products.
