Despite the grim reaper paying a visit to several noted restaurants recently, my tally still shows more openings than closings. Today’s news is all good:
Construction is proceeding in the former Coco’s/Reuben’s space at Conway and Lindbergh. Opening in October will be a casual-Italian, Sinatra-themed restaurant from the indefatigable Mike Faille. I’m guessing the menu will consist of pizza, pasta…and karaoke. The name: Old Blue Eyes

This one opening in mid-November, next to Westport’s Casa Gallardo: a vodka-bar-meets-small-plates hybrid from Munsok So, owner of the 3 Drunken Fish restaurants. So reports that it will be lunch and dinner, 7 days a week. The name: ICEKITCHEN
One shoudn’t-surprise-you closing and another opening “coming soon.” Stay tuned. –George Mahe
