Ophthalmology Associates has been serving the vision needs of St. Louis for more than 30 years. Founded in 1991 by Gregg J. Berdy, MD, FACS, the practice was later expanded with the additions of Ranjan Malhotra, MD, FACS; Robert Brusatti, OD; and Andrew Royer, OD. Ophthalmology Associates is known as the “doctors’ doctors,” handling all ophthalmology needs for adults and children. In addition to offering general eye care, the physicians specialize in cataract and lens implant surgery, LASIK, and corneal surgery. “We offer lifestyle lenses, such as PanOptix®, ReSTOR®, TECNIS®, and Crystalens®, with custom cataract surgery to provide crystal-clear vision with reduced dependence on glasses,” says Dr. Malhotra. “Our patients—even those with cataracts—can now have better vision with just one surgery.” Ophthalmology Associates offers the newest IOL (intraocular lens) technology called the Light Adjustable Lens.

The physicians of Ophthalmology Associates are experts in treating dry-eye disease, ocular allergic disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. “We are able to diagnose and correct eye problems that other surgeons are unable to do,” says Dr. Berdy. “We’re sticklers; we’re precise. We just do excellent work.”

Ophthalmology Associates was among the first practices in the U.S. to offer corneal collagen cross-linking, or CXL. In this revolutionary therapy, drops of riboflavin (vitamin B) are placed on the eye, followed by an application of UV light. This procedure allows patients to avoid the need for a corneal transplant. Ophthalmology Associates continues to participate in FDA clinical trials on the latest treatments for dry eye, ocular allergies, neurotrophic keratitis, glaucoma, and surgical treatment of cataracts.

Ophthalmology Associates is the first office in the U.S. to offer Tixel-i therapy for their patients with dry eye symptoms.
