Lutheran South High School

Lutheran South opened a $20 million Center for the Arts this year. The 40,000-square-foot addition includes an impressive new entry to the school, a coffee shop and spirit store, a visual art studio, a music hall, and a 626-seat theater. The school’s first performance in the new theater garnered five high school musical awards, including best musical, best director, and best technical execution among high schools across St. Louis.

The theater is also used for weekly chapel, where students learn about their identity as a child of God, loved and saved by Jesus. The addition provides more space to collaborate and study as part of the school’s college-style schedule, which gives students breaks throughout the day. The coed school, located near Grant’s Farm, is building a new weight room and has plans for a $12 million STEM Center next year.

With 600 students from 58 different ZIP codes, Lutheran South provides unique opportunities for students to learn, compete, engage, and serve. The school exists to transform lives. Lutheran South sees the big picture—faith formation combined with academic rigor. The teachers and coaches understand that students are more than an ACT score, place on a team, or chair in the band. Students graduate knowing who they are because of Whose they are.
