Two years ago, The Future is Female went dark. On July 17, Amanda Mubano is turning the lights back on.
The beloved St. Louis comedy showcase, a night dedicated to celebrating and elevating women in comedy, returns to The Heavy Anchor with Mubano at the helm as host. Her commitment to reviving the show speaks to what it has always meant to this community: a space where women take the stage, own the room, and prove, showcase after showcase, that the future is theirs.
Headlining the comeback is Meredith Hopping, the showcase’s former host and show runner, alongside performers Taji, Emily Hickner, and Jennie Weaver, with showcasing sets from Yzzy Zarate, Mollie Amburgey, Shante Love, and Parker Hart.
The evening benefits The MICA Project, a St. Louis organization providing low-cost immigration legal services, community outreach, and support for low-income immigrants, handling cases ranging from family petitions and naturalization to asylum and removal defense. For Mubano, the choice is personal, rooted in a deep belief that comedy and community go hand in hand.
Doors at 7 PM, show at 8 PM. Tickets are $10.
