Leverage Dance Theater’s “A Not So Normal Nutcracker”

This holiday season, Leverage Dance Theater breaks the mold of a 130 year-old tradition, inviting audiences to experience the magic from the inside out. “A Not So Normal Nutcracker” transforms a Cherokee Street storefront into a living fairytale, offering an intimate, multi-sensory journey for the whole family. The production runs for a limited engagement from December 13–21.

Staged at 2700 Cherokee Street, guests will follow Clara, the Nutcracker, and the Snow Queen through a glittering portal into the Land of Sweets. Each room becomes a unique sensory adventure where Candy Canes, Gingerbread, Licorice, Marzipan, Tea, and Hot Chocolate come alive through a dynamic blend of music, movement, and design. The score weaves Tchaikovsky’s classic compositions with jazz, acoustic, hip-hop variations and new compositions.

“It’s our invitation to reimagine a story everyone thinks they know – to honor tradition while opening the doors wider to new audiences, new music, and new wonders.”
— Diana Lia Barrios, Artistic Director
